Some falls change everything.

This work is rooted in lived experience — a moment of trauma that continues to echo through the body over time.

As a child, I fell through a window and sustained a severe injury that led to years of surgeries, physical pain, and ongoing recovery. Fallen translates that history into form.

The body is reimagined as a vessel — holding both damage and growth. Above it, roses bloom in abundance, symbols of resilience and the instinct to keep going. Yet not all stand upright. Two roses bow under unseen weight, one shedding its petals — a quiet acknowledgement of vulnerability, of moments where endurance falters.

Material plays a crucial role in this piece. Fragments of broken glass are embedded within the surface, directly referencing the original fall — a frozen rupture in time. A single shard placed on the ankle points to a present reality: an ongoing infection, a reminder that healing is not linear, nor confined to the past.

Fallen exists in the tension between fragility and strength. It does not hide the break, but instead reframes it — suggesting that what is fractured can still hold beauty, and what has fallen can rise again.
